Unusually, When baby Food Start is anyway between 4 months to 6 months.
You know, parents always ask lots of questions as to when is the best time for their infant to start eating solid foods.
Well, in this post, I am going to provide you with some information on this topic that is easy to digest. First of all, you need to realize that it’s not until late in the first year of life that the digestive system is matured.
And at this point, it can maximally absorb nutrients and calories. According to professionals, solids that can fill a baby up but are low in calories and nutrients, don’t help your baby grow until they are about a year old.
So, what are solids for in infancy? Well, they’re really only there in infancy to help your baby develop a fondness for tastes and textures.
Their main ongoing source of nutritional growth in that first year of life is through the breast milk you are giving your baby. Or if there is any need, then it would be the formula they are drinking.
So that being said, the question is when is the best time to initiate solids for taste and texture? to paraphrase, one would ask When Baby Food Start exactly?
When Baby Food Start
Well, certainly the answer to that is anywhere before 5 months or at least 4 months of age. More importantly, you can start feeding your baby when your baby demonstrates good head and neck control.
And at this point, your baby is close to, if not sitting up. So, this is exactly what signifies the loss of primitive sucking reflexes that make it difficult for your baby to swallow anything that is not liquid without choking.
Also, another reason to wait for the baby to be at least 4 months before introducing solid food is to reduce the risk of food allergies.
Certainly, if solids are started too early, the baby stand a very high chance of choking. Because at that stage, there is a risk of baby sucking food into the airway.
And this in turn cold make the baby get too much or too little nutrients which might result to obesity. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, it is recommended that starting solids for babies anywhere between 4 to 6 months of age is better.
However, if the baby is being exclusively breastfed, then anytime closer to 6 months is fine to start solids. Personally, the closer to 6 months mark or 6 months on the dot is what I would recommend. Because that works for me perfectly.
My Baby First Solid Food
What are the best food to start with? well my baby first solid is baby rice. For obvious reason, I chose this because this baby rice is the regular rice we know. And it is only have been ground into a fine powdered form.
Baby rice is ideal for baby first food. All you need to do it to mix the fine ground rice with milk and warm water. And it will form a smooth texture ideal for the baby.
In addition, most nutritionists recommend starting with a single-grain cereal. For example, an iron-fortified rice cereal, which can be easily digested at 4 to 6 months of age.
After then, it will be fine for moving on to pureed vegetables and subsequently, fruits. Certainly, it is recommended that you serve the sweeter food last so your baby can adjusts to the non-sweet tastes of cereals and vegetables first.
Don’t introduce more than one new food every few days to your baby. This is to make sure that your baby doesn’t develop a food allergy to a particular new food. Or an ingredient you are giving to him or her. By doing so, you will be able to know what the culprit is if a new food is introduced.
