How to Make Oats With Milk Stove Top Method

So, to make oats with milk using the stove top method, you will need the following Ingredients.

Method One Ingredients list

  • 1 cup of rolled oats
  • 2 cups of milk
  • a pinch of sea salt (optional)
Cooking Procedure
  • Place a clean sauce pan on a stove
  • pour the milk into the sauce pan
  • put in the rolled oats and a pinch of salt
  • use a wooden spatula to move it around till the rolled oats are all free flowing in the milk
  • cook on a medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes, while it is cooking, stir at interval to avoid it from getting burned. Also, keep an eye on it as oats generally tend to boil over when cooking.
  • After, cooking, put off the heat and turn the oats into a plate
  • Sweeten it with honey, maple syrup, sugar or any sweetener of choice

How to Make Oats With Milk Microwave Method

Because the oats tends to spill over while cooking in the microwave. Use a microwavable bowl with a tight lid for this method. You don’t want your microwave messy after cooking, so it is important to cut down on mess as much as possible.

Method Two Ingredients

The ingredients are the same with the stove top method. However, Cut down on the quantity of milk by 25% because more moisture are lost in stove top method than the microwave method. Also, you will be needing a bowl for this one as opposed to a sauce pan

  • 1 cup of rolled oats
  • 11/2 cups of milk
  • a pinch of sea salt (optional)

Cooking Procedure

  • Pour the milk in a bowl
  • put the rolled oats in
  • add salt and stir it very well to ensure the oats are not packed together at the bottom or on one part of the bowl
  • after that, place the bowl in a microwave, turn it on at the maximum and let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes
  • After cooking, turn it into a plate, sweeten and garnish it to your taste. Let it seat for to to 3 minutes to cool off a bit before serving

Overnight Oats Recipe

So, talking about an amazing fast way to have your oatmeal for breakfast, then think overnight oats. Even more, overnight oats are easy to digest especially for those people who find it hard to digest oats will find this recipe useful. Therefore, in this recipe, we need the following ingredients for a nice healthy oatmeal with milk

  • 1 cup of rolled oats
  • 11/2 cups of milk
  • a pinch of sea salt (optional)
  • 2 tablespoon of reek yoghurt

Also, you want a container with a tight lid where the oats will seat overnight. In addition, leave your overnight oats to seat up to three days in the fridge and it will be just fine. In fact fermenting your oats with yoghurt helps the good microorganism (lactobacillus) in it to break down the tough structure of oats.   • Pour the rolled oats or steel oat in a container
  • pour in the milk, add some salt
  • stir it very well till it is well mixed
  • At this time, you want to add some sweeteners of choice in it. For example, you want to add some maple syrup, honey, maple syrup and so on
  • After that, add the Greek yoghurt then mix it all together until there is no lump in it
  • Cover the container very well, then place it in the fridge till the next day
  • Then, on the next day, get the overnight oats out of the fridge, warm it up if you like, then add some topping and enjoy the healthy overnight oats with milk


Garnish the oatmeal with some some fresh fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries or banana. Also, you may serve it with dried fruits, seeds or nuts.
