How To Roast Turkey

Christmas season that comes once in a year is here again. And here is how to roast turkey in the oven to make it more memorable . So in this post, I am going to show you the secret to the most juicy and most flavourful turkey roast.

Certainly, we celebrate Christmas once a year and and to make turkey could be challenging sometimes. However, with this easy recipe, you have a guarantee great juicy tasting Christmas day turkey

List of Ingredients

  • 6kg whole turkey
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of dry basil
  • 2 tablespoons of paprika
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons of onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon of dry thyme
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of oregano
  • a pinch of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoon of ginger

Other Ingredients Include

  • Small bunch of fresh thyme
  • A little bunch of rosemary
  • 2 medium size lemon
  • 1 large onion
  • 4 gloves of garlic
  • Small size fresh ginger
  • 1 cup of meat broth
  • 4 fresh bay leaf

How To Roast Turkey

  • First of all, clean and wash the turkey. After that, use a paper towel or kitchen role to dab the turkey till there is no water on the skin
  • Mix salt, thyme, ginger powder, basil, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, paprika in a clean bowl
  • After that, melt the butter and pour it into the mixture of spices
  • Mix everything together till they have combined very well
  • Place the turkey in a baking tray
  • Gently pull up the skin of the turkey, work in the spice right under the skin as much as possible. (To get the spices under the skin, use a spatula and slide it under the skin carefully so you don’t tear it. Also, you can use you hand to gently do it)
  • After that, rub a generous amount of the spice and butter mixture all over the turkey
  • Season the inside of the turkey cavity with some salt and pepper

  • Now bind the the feet together with a rope (this will help keep the turkey together so they don’t get scattered apart after cooking)
  • After that, fold the wings inside to enable it not to dry out and get burned before the whole turkey is cooked
  • pour the meat broth into the pan, this will provide moisture for the turkey to cook
  • Drizzles some vegetable oil on the turkey to prevent it from burning

  • after that, add the all purpose flour while stirring continuously for 2 to 3 minutes to prevent it from forming a lump
  • now add the chicken broth in bit by bit and stir it along
  • add the turkey stock in , season it with salt and pepper
  • Cook for 2 to 3 minutes and the gravy is ready

Finally, the consistency of the gravy you want will depend on how much chicken broth and flour you want to add. For example, if you want it thicker, use more flour and less chicken stock. How how do you like your turkey, with or washout gravy?
