How To Cook Beans With Vinegar To Reduce Gas

Add some vinegar in a beans about 5 to 10 minutes before the beans is ready to help reduce gas from eating the beans

  • 3 cups Beans (any type of beans)
  • 1 big Onion (red or white (important))
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves (Important)
  • 1/2 cup Palm oil (you can swap with vegetable oil)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cube Bouillon seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika (optional)
  • 2 tablespoon Ground crayfish (optional)
  • 100 grams Dry fish (optional)
  • 2 tablespoon Apple vinegar (important)
  1. Clean the beans from all chaff, debris, spoiled and broken pieces. Then, wash the beans with clean water and discard the water

  2. After that, put the beans in a pot, pour some water in the pot just above the level of the beans. Cover it and let is soak for 8 to 10 hours. Note that you may need to do this a day or 8 to 10 hours prior to when you want to cook the beans

  3. Drain the water from the beans after soaking for 8 to 10 hours, pour fresh water in the beans just a little bit above the beans. And start cooking on a medium heat for 20 to 25 minutes. While the beans is cooking, dice the garlic cloves and onion into tiny pieces. Also, you may choose to grind them into a paste

  4. After that, put palm oil, add the garlic, onion, salt, pepper, crayfish, paprika and seasoning cube

  5. Remove bones, dirt from the dry fish and wash it. After that, put the dry fish into the pot and cook on medium heat. keep cooking for about 20 to 25 minutes

  6. Add the vinegar, stir it, cook till the beans is soft

  7. Once the beans is cooked to your satisfaction, put off the stove and let it is seat for about 5 to 10 minutes, stir it and serve warm

The amount of time you cook your beans will depend on the type of beans you are cooking. For instance, tiny brown beans cooks longer than bigger white beans. Also, freshly harvested beans cooks faster than old dry ones. 

Therefore, I recommend you take your time and cook the beans slowing while checking at interval to know how much the beans has cooked.

Also, add more water if the beans calls for it. Most importantly, add the vinegar just 5 – 10 minutes towards the end of the cooking.

Similarly, paprika helps the colour of the beans to brighten better, but you can skip that if you do not want it. Also, you can swap it with tatashi, shombo, red bell pepper. 

Generally, adjust the ingredients to suit your taste.
